Govt. dismisses 747 teachers,reinstates 141

The Plateau State government on Thursday post the dismissals of 747 teachers due to lack of basic qualifications.

Matthew Sule, Chairman State Universal Basic Education Board SUBEB disclose this during a refresher course for official in educational sector in the state capital Jos. He said “747 teachers have been relieved of their job for lack of basic education for the profession.”

He further explained that the 747 affected teachers failed to present the certificate that qualified them as a teacher within the stipulated time given to them by the state’s Teaching Service Commission.

He also said that those that have attain retirement were also forced to retire.

141 that was disengaged in service by the past administration were also reconsidered. He added.

He said, due to the dismissals of 747 teachers, their is need to employ new teachers to fill the existing vacancies.
